Netflix's new mystery horror series "Honey Job" ("Kkul-alba") has Lee Jae-wook playing a cash-strapped man whose part-time job pays 50 times the normal hourly wage, with 30-to-40-minute episodes and Squid Game comparisons. Meanwhile, Korean television is mourning Choi Bul-am, the "nation's father," who has died at 86 after a 67-year career that began on stage in 1959 with "Hamlet" and made him a household name through "Chief Inspector" and "Village Chronicle," which ran for 18 and 22 years respectively. He also spent more than 40 years supporting young people through the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, where his funeral will be held. In music, ILLIT's "Midnight Fiction" passed 100 million Spotify streams and "Lucky Girl Syndrome" topped 200 million, just as the group returned with the fifth mini album "Break Even". The 2026 Melon Music Awards nominees are also out, led by BTS, AKMU, IVE, and PLAVE. Plus, Brad Pitt's "Heart of the Beast" knocked "Chiikawa" off the top of the Korean box office, EXO's Suho joins the film "Father's Secret," and ENHYPEN earns a government commendation.
