SPEAKER_02We're your hosts bringing you all the hottest updates from the K-pop and K-drama world.
SPEAKER_03Today is October 30th, 2026, and we've got some incredible stories to share with you.
SPEAKER_02Let's dive right in.
SPEAKER_03Veteran actor Cheburam, beloved across Korea as the nation's father, has passed away at the age of 86, according to industry reports. He died around 10 pm on October 29th while being treated at a hospital in Seoul after his health worsened following back surgery last year that forced him to step away from the KBS program Korean Table. Born in 1939, he began his acting career on stage in 1959 with Hamlet before becoming a television star, best known for the long-running dramas Chief Inspector and Village Chronicle, which aired for 18 and 22 years respectively. Over his 67-year career, he collected major honours, including the Order of Culture Merit, and he also served for a time as a National Assembly member. He was just as devoted off-screen, spending more than 40 years supporting children and young people through the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, which is where his funeral will be held at Asan Medical Centre in Seoul, in keeping with his wishes.
SPEAKER_02Friday night is getting a little livelier in Seoul as a surprisingly fun lineup gathered for a photo call tied to the Condition Friday party event. On the 30th, singer Changi Ha, Ka the Garden, veteran trot stars Horundor, and TV personality Yu Biongze pose together at a pub called Palmaji Plaza in the Uljiro area of Chung District. The four have been given the playful group nickname Tangaz Hoyu, which blends a syllable from each of their names and instantly gives the crew a team identity. It's a quirky mix of indie cool, trot legend, and comedic charm, and that kind of cross-genre chemistry is exactly what tends to make Korean variety and promotional content so entertaining. Industry reports suggest fans can expect plenty of laughs from this unlikely party squad. So keep an eye out for more details soon.
SPEAKER_03Netflix's new mystery horror series Honey Job, known in Korean as Kuraiba, is turning creepy internet urban legends into a binge-worthy thrill ride, and Izeuk is the star holding it all together. He plays Hyok-chun, a man desperate for cash who takes a part-time gig paying 50 times the normal hourly wage, only to discover that common sense does not apply on the job. Each episode runs about 30 to 40 minutes and drops him into a fresh scare, from a convenience store night shift with bizarre rules that recalls Neapolitan-style horror stories, to a creepy clown at a pharmaceutical event, to a milk delivery inside an endless building that feels like the famous Backrooms legend. Industry reports say the fast-pacing is the show's biggest strength, since viewers barely get used to one scare before the next one arrives, though horror fans may be able to guess a few of the twists. Edock's mix of comic panic and genuine desperation sells the whole thing, and reviewers are even comparing the Money for Survival setup to Squid Game, while noting that this series leans on the supernatural instead.
SPEAKER_02Industry reports say he passed away on October 28th at his home in Los Angeles, surrounded by his family, including his wife Sonny Ozell, after a short but painful battle with Alzheimer's disease and Lewy body dementia. His family said he spent his final hours surrounded by music, prayer, tears, and laughter, while Marvel Studios called him a true gentleman who brought extraordinary dignity and humanity to his role. Stuart began his career on the British stage with the Royal Shakespeare Company in the 1960s, and he is also set to appear as Xavier once more in Avengers Doomsday this December. Tributes have poured in from colleagues like William Shatner, George Takay, and Hugh Jackman, who said he learned so much from Stuart and will miss him for the rest of his life.
SPEAKER_03Rookie group Unchild is turning heads with the release of their second digital single, Ting Ting, and the promotional photo shoot has fans buzzing about the members' striking visuals. News sources describe the event as a real eye-catcher, with the group showing off a playful and polished concept to mark the comeback. The release continues their momentum as they build a stronger identity within the competitive K-pop scene. If the early reaction is any sign, Tinkting could be a track that sticks in listeners' heads. Keep an eye on Unchild as they roll out more promotions in the days ahead.
SPEAKER_02Pak Youn of the group Unchild stepped out to promote her second digital single, titled Tinkting, and her visuals are already turning heads. Photos from the promotion event show her looking almost unreal, with fans comparing her to a character who walked right out of a comic book. The release marks another solo step for her, and the buzz around her styling suggests the single is off to an eye-catching start. Industry reports also point to other headlines in the entertainment world, including the nominee announcement for MMA 2026, which features names ranging from BTS to AKMU. It's a busy week for Korean pop culture, so keep an eye out for more on Ting Ting in the days ahead.
SPEAKER_03The group took part in Record Delivery, a self-recording series from the K-pop media channel 1 The K, which was released on the 29th. The members gathered in a colourful space filled with cute props, recorded and filmed the session themselves, and even filled out delivery invoices as part of the concept. Insomnia is an acoustic pop track built around lyrical guitar sounds, capturing the longing and tangled emotions that grow sharper as the night gets deeper, and the six members' delicate vocals and sweet harmonies really bring that mood to life. Unlike their powerful stage performances, this live focused on the members' natural charm and strong singing, and fans have been responding warmly to the relaxed vibe, with one the K-producer Pe Zhajin saying the goal was to deliver the song's delicate emotion in a natural atmosphere.
SPEAKER_02Fans in Seoul got a fun and unexpected lineup on Friday, October 30th, when singer Changi ha, singer Ka, The Garden, veteran trot star Shorun Do, and TV personality Yu Bionje came together for a photo call. The event was for something called the Condition Friday Party, and it took place at a pub called Taimaji Square in the Urijiro district of Soros Chong district. The four stars struck poses for the cameras, and the headline playfully said their looks were shaking up the whole Urijiro neighborhood. It's a pretty quirky mix of indie cool, ballad charm, classic trot legend, and comedy wit all in one frame. Industry reports suggest the party is a light-hearted celebration, so keep an eye out for more from this star-studded group.
SPEAKER_03Fresh from a photo shoot for her second digital single, Tina of the group Unchild is turning heads with a bold, chic look. News sources describe her as the very definition of cool, with piercing eyes and a girl crush charm that stole the spotlight during promotions for the new release titled Ting Ting. The single is her follow-up to her earlier digital release, and the visuals suggest she is going for a confident, no-nonsense vibe this time around. Fans can expect an atmosphere-driven concept that leans on attitude rather than sweetness. It looks like Tina is ready to make a strong impression as the new track arrives.
SPEAKER_02Rookie group Eyelit is proving that its debut era still has serious staying power, with two tracks from the debut mini-album Super Real Me hitting big streaming milestones on Spotify. According to industry reports, the song Midnight Fiction reached more than 100 million streams as of October 28th, becoming the group's ninth track to cross that mark. Just a few days earlier, on October 25th, Lucky Girl Syndrome passed 200 million streams, making it the group's fifth song to reach that level. Midnight Fiction is a dreamy modern pop tune about a sleepless early morning, while Lucky Girl Syndrome is a bright, whistle-driven dance pop track that fans loved for its playful thumbs-up performance. The timing is perfect, since Eilet just returned with their fifth mini-album, Break Even, so the momentum is clearly still rolling.
SPEAKER_03Netflix's new mystery horror series, Honey Part-Time Job, or Guraiba, is turning internet ghost stories into real-life nightmares, and horror fans are in for a treat. Each short episode, running about 30 to 40 minutes, drops him into a fresh scare, from a convenience store with bizarre rules that recalls Napolitan-style creepypasta, to a creepy clown at a pharmaceutical event, to a milk delivery inside a maze-like building that feels like the backrooms. Reviewers say Lee carries the show with a one-man performance, switching between terror and comedy with funny faces and full-body effort as he runs, tumbles, and scrambles to finish his deliveries. The setup of a desperate hero, huge money, and life or death rules draws comparisons to Squid Game, though this series leans on supernatural creepiness rather than human greed. Industry reports suggest the real appeal is seeing familiar, scary stories in a brand new light, with a fast pace that never lets viewers get comfortable.
SPEAKER_02Santos Bravos is teaming up with fellow Hyde Group Ann Team for a brand new single called Origami, set to drop on the 20th of next month as the lead track from their second EP. The two groups first worked together on the Kawasaki Ann Team remix back in February, a high-energy club track blending Latin urban sounds with Brazilian rhythms. But this time, the Latin pop group is going for something more mature and emotional. Inspired by the Japanese art of paper folding, the song explores themes of roots, gratitude, and resilience, with each crease in the paper symbolizing life experiences, relationships, and lessons learned. The momentum behind the five-member group is strong, as they have passed 250 million streams over the past year, and their debut EP Duel reached number 17 on the Billboard Top Latin Pop Albums chart. Next March, the members, Drew, Kawe, Alejandro, Kenneth, and Gabby will also perform at Lollapalooza South America 2027 in Chile, Argentina, and Brazil.
SPEAKER_03TWS is getting ready to show a deeper, more delicate side of their music with their second single album, To Us, arriving on all major music platforms on November 2nd at 6 p.m. Korean time. Since debuting in January of 2024, the group has painted the growing pains of youth through their signature genre called Boyhood Pop, but this release turns the lens inward, capturing the worries, trial and error, and pre-stage nerves the members have faced along the way. The title track, Call My Name, is a heartfelt message to their fandom, 42, with members Yongde, Xinyu, and To Hun taking part in the lyrics to pour in their resolve and courage. The sound gets a more tender touch too, thanks to piano work from jazz pianist Yun Zhapter, while the B side, We Up, shows off their confidence, and Heavy offers warm comfort to young people worn down by the weight of the world. Industry reports say the group is embracing both light and shadow, and this comes right after they wrapped their second concert tour 24-7 for You at Kaozhiang Arena in Taiwan.
SPEAKER_02Over in Seoul's Uljiro neighborhood, a pretty unexpected lineup turned heads on October 30th. Singer Chang Giha, Ka the Garden, trot legend Shorundor, and comedian Yu Biang Zhe gathered at a Uljiro pub called Talmaji Plaza for a photo call tied to an event named the Condition Friday Night Party. The four struck playful poses for cameras, and their group nickname, which fans are already shortening into a catchy four-syllable mashup of their names, is making the rounds. It's a fun crossover that mixes indie cool, trot royalty, and comedy in one frame, and the retro hip Urduro setting fits the vibe perfectly. Industry reports suggest the party is aimed at kicking off the weekend in style, so keep an eye out for more footage and behind-the-scenes moments from this quirky team-up.
SPEAKER_03Our featured song today is You're Under Arrest by Eyelet, the title track from their fifth mini album Break Even. This playful track is built around a catchy whistle sound, and it has already jumped all the way to number seven on Melon's top 100, while its music video has pass 10 million views on YouTube. Here's a quick preview.
SPEAKER_02Industry reports say the show follows Hyok-jun, a man desperate for cash who takes a part-time gig paying 50 times the normal hourly wage, only to find that common sense doesn't apply there. Each episode drops him into a fresh nightmare, from a convenience store with bizarre rules reminiscent of Napoleotin-style creepypasta, to a creepy clown at a pharmaceutical event, and an endless maze-like apartment building that echoes the backrooms legend. With episodes running just 30 to 40 minutes, the pacing is relentless, and Lee Jay Wook carries the whole show with a mix of comic panic and genuine terror, running, tumbling, and scrambling through every crisis. Reviewers also note its similarities to Squid Game, with a cash-strapped hero risking his life for big money. But Honey Job leans on the supernatural, making it a fun, fresh take for horror fans.
SPEAKER_03News sources report that the publisher of the shooter game, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, Activision, has formally apologised after footage connected to the Itewon Crowd Crush tragedy appeared in the game's opening cinematic. The company said it offers deep condolences to the bereaved families and victims, and it will remove the roughly three seconds of footage in a game update scheduled for the 12th of next month. Activision explained that the game is a fictional work built around realistic immersion and said it never intended to evoke the tragedy or make light of anyone's pain. The controversy began after the game, released on the 23rd and set in an imagined war in which North Korea invades South Korea, was found to use real news rescue footage, with the source description even noting that at least 153 people had died. The Itewan Victims' Families Association said it was appalled, and the Interior Minister called the incident secondary harm to victims and said appropriate sanctions should be considered.
SPEAKER_02Brad Pitt's new survival drama, Heart of the Beast, has claimed the number one spot at the South Korean box office on just its second day in theaters. Industry reports say the film, directed by David Eyer, drew more than 21,000 viewers on October 29th, bringing its total to over 52,000. That finally knocked off the animated hit Chi Kawa, The Secret of Mermaid Island, which had held the top spot for 15 days straight and has now passed 2.3 million total viewers. The story follows a former Special Forces soldier, played by Pitt, who is stranded in the Alaskan wilderness after a plane crash and fights to survive alongside his retired military dog, Odin. Audiences seem to love the stunning scenery and the heartfelt bond between man and dog, giving it a 96% score on CGV's egg index, though Chicoa still leads advanced ticket sales for now.
SPEAKER_03Acclaimed filmmaker Yi Chang Dung is bringing his very first short film to a global audience as Heartbeat arrives on Netflix worldwide on November 2nd. The film follows a young boy as he watches his family face crisis and pain, and it centers on the theme of depression. It first premiered at the Chonju International Film Festival in 2022 and was made after Lee accepted a proposal from the World Health Organization and the Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation. Actress Chon Doyun plays the boy's mother. Suorgeonggu lends his voice as the father, and child actor Kim Gonnu takes the lead role, with subtitles offered in English, Spanish, Chinese, French, and more. Industry reports say the short lands four days before Lee's new feature, Possible Love, debuts on Netflix on November 6th, and it connects to that film's world, so fans have a perfect warm-up.
SPEAKER_02Nominees for the 2026 Melon Music Awards are officially out, and the competition looks fierce, with BTS, AKMU, IVE, and Plave all in the running. Seven acts landed nominations in all three major categories of Artist, Album, and Best Song of the Year, including BTS, AKMU, IOI, IVE, Eyelit, Kiki, and Cortis. BTS hit number one on Mellon's Top 100 within an hour of releasing their title track Swim from their fifth full album, while IOI made a comeback after about nine years and topped both the Top 100 and Hot 100 with Suddenly. This year also introduces a new global top 10 category, which uses data from Korean, Chinese, and Japanese music platforms, and final winners will be decided by a mix of chart scores, judging, and fan voting that runs through November 13th. The ceremony will be a first for the awards, spread across two days on November 14th and 15th at Gotchok Skydome in Seoul.
SPEAKER_03Kim Yunzog and Kugyohan are teaming up again in the new mystery film Heavy Snow, and the production presentation just gave us a closer look. The story is set in a remote rural train station cut off by a blizzard, where a mysterious body is discovered and a tense survival game begins, mixing suspense with surprising bursts of black comedy. Kim plays the stationmaster Kapsu, who is close to retirement and torn between pride and lingering attachment, while Ku plays Hyanpik, the cheerful new successor who is hiding another side behind his bright smile. The two previously worked together on Escape from Mogadishu, but this time they meet as senior and junior with very different values, and Kim promised audiences will feel their chemistry deepen as they eat and sleep together in that cramped station. Director Hong Lidong also packed the set with small details, like homemade liquor and hundreds of handwritten work logs that reveal Kapsu's life. And Ku asks viewers to go in spoiler-free, since the film feels different depending on whose perspective you follow. Heavy Snow opens in theaters on the 18th of next month.
SPEAKER_02Trot singer Namgong Jin is coming back with a heartfelt new release, and fans won't have to wait long. Industry reports say his digital single Huayang Yonhua, which means the most beautiful moment in life, drops on all major music platforms this Friday, October 31st, at 6 in the evening. Korean time. It's his first release in about a year since Stroll came out last October. The song is a thank you to someone who stayed by his side through life's hardships, comparing that person to a fragrant chrysanthemum, and it carries the message that right now is the true springtime of life. Alongside it, he's also unveiling a companion track called You Are My Star about the love he feels for the person who reached out first and became his support. And he first rose to fame as a top 10 finalist on Mr. Trot 3 and picked up a Rookie Singer Award from the Korean Singers Association this past March.
SPEAKER_03Fresh visuals are in from the rising act Unchild as member Aqua stepped out for promotions behind the group's second digital single, Ting Ting. News sources describe the photo shoot as a dreamy blue fantasy concept, with Aqua's striking, painting-like beauty and captivating gaze, making it feel like a manga page come to life. In other industry news, the nominees for MMA 2026 have been revealed, with a lineup that stretches from BTS all the way to AKMU. Fans of Korean cinema also have something to look forward to, as a special screening event at the Academy Museum will take a closer look at the acting of Pa Keil. And over on the screen, Exxo Suho is heading back to the big screen, reportedly cast in a leading role in the film Father's Secret.
SPEAKER_02News sources report that a former Ador Deputy Chief, identified only as Elle, has been indicted for allegedly downloading confidential financial files from Hybe without authorization. Prosecutors say Elle, a former accountant who worked in Hybe's finance team until early 2024, still had personal access to a company folder after moving to Adore to work alongside former CEO Min Hijin. On April 8th of that year, Elle reportedly downloaded files 51 times, including income statements, financial statements, and regional earnings data for Hybes artists from 2021 to 2022. Elle is also described as a key working-level figure in the alleged Hyde management takeover controversy, and is said to have helped prepare materials like a complaint letter in the names of New Gene's parents. The case was filed as a summary indictment, which means prosecutors asked the court for a fine of 5 million one through a written review instead of a full trial, though Elle can still request a formal trial.
SPEAKER_03Suho plays Te Zong, a young man caught between his dream of becoming a musician and harsh reality, who gets pulled into unexpected trouble after discovering his father's secret. He'll star opposite Pa Kisun, who plays his father, along with Bamiran, Han Ziun, and Pangmyoun. The film is directed by Yun Zeho, whose movie Beautiful Days was chosen as the opening film at the 23rd Pusan International Film Festival, and cameras are set to start rolling next month with a release targeted for next year.
SPEAKER_02The government honor recognizes people and groups who have helped Korean pop culture grow and reach a global audience. And the members thanked their fans, known as Engine, for enjoying their music and stages alongside them. They also promised to keep working through a variety of music and activities to contribute to Korean pop culture. The group debuted in 2020 and has become a true global act, with their eighth mini album, The Sin, Vanish, recently hitting number one on the Billboard 200 after selling about 2.09 million copies in its first week. That marks their fifth double million seller, and they're also in the middle of their biggest world tour yet, Blood Saga, with 37 shows across 22 cities and regions, plus a spin-off single, The Sin Parallel World, arriving on November 20th, with the album following on the 23rd.
SPEAKER_03Girl Group Baby Don't Cry is teasing fans with spoiler content for their upcoming digital single Replay after posting member photos on social media with lyric snippets like In the End, Back to Where I Started, and Don't Be Fooled, even if it appears before your eyes. The release marks the start of their push into Japan, with Warner Music helping launch the song in both Korea and Japan at the same time. Industry reports say a hitmaker lineup is behind it, including Psy of P Nation as executive producer, plus singer Crush and lyricist Sojim. The title track is an RB song built on a two-step garage rhythm, a style of UK garage, promising a fresh change from their earlier music. Replay arrives on November 4th, followed by their Japanese debut with the mini-album Daybreak Replay on January 20th.
SPEAKER_02Actor Paqueir is getting a special spotlight in Hollywood, as the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles is hosting a screening series simply titled Pakir, running from October 29th through November 14th at the David Geffen Theatre. The actor will join audiences in person for three separate events: attending screenings of Decision to Leave, Hanzhan, Rising Dragon, and Unyo. The lineup also features other highlights from his 20-year career, including Memories of Murder, Moss, Kings of Wind, and The Last Princess. The museum praised him for bringing sharp sensitivity to characters ranging from a reclusive 70-something writer to an energetic teenage rock band vocalist, noting that strength and tenderness live side by side in every role. This is the latest in a series of Korean tributes at the museum, following special programs for Song Gang-ho in 2023, Yun Yu Jong in 2024, and director Pongjun-ho last year.
SPEAKER_03Here's a fun lineup that caught our eye today. Singer Tang Giha, singer Card Garden, veteran trot star Shorunbu, and comedian and broadcaster Yu Biong Je all came together for a photo call on October 30th. The event, called the Condition Friday Night Party, took place at a pub called Tai Maji Plaza in the Urtiro neighborhood of Tung District, Saur. The four posed together for cameras, and their playful group nickname making the rounds is Tangka Zholiu, built from the first syllable of each of their names. It's a wonderfully mixed group, pairing indie and pop sensibilities with classic trot and sharp comedic charm. Industry reports suggest the Friday night theme gives the gathering a relaxed, festive vibe, so keep an eye out for more details on what this quirky quartet has planned.
