SPEAKER_02We're your hosts, bringing you all the hottest updates from the K-pop and K-drama world.
SPEAKER_01Today is October 21st, 2026, and we've got some incredible stories to share with you.
SPEAKER_02Let's dive right in.
SPEAKER_01Actor Um Munzok is about to become a newlywed, and fans are celebrating the news. The 43-year-old's agency, Ghost Studio, confirmed on October 21st that he will marry his girlfriend, who works as a model, in January of next year. Um shared the news himself in a long, heartfelt letter on his fan cafe, saying he wants to spend the rest of his life with someone who truly cherishes him, and he thanked fans for the love and support that carried him this far. Best known for dramas like The Fiery Priest and Taxi Driver Season 3, as well as the film The Outlaws 2, he also got a warm reception this past July for a surprise turn as a carpenter in director Na Hongjin's film Hope. Industry reports add that he has received an offer to appear in director Umtewa's upcoming project, so it looks like a very busy and happy year ahead.
SPEAKER_02Actress Kim Hyun-ju is opening up about her unconventional new psychological thriller, Paradise Lost, directed by Yunzang Ho. She plays Ru Soo Yong, a mother who lost her son nine years ago, and finds comfort in an AI program that lets her see him through glasses, until her real son returns, changed and unfamiliar. Kim said she approached the role less as classic motherly love and more as a portrait of human loss, imagining So Yong as someone already living a fake life long before her son came back. The film wrapped in just 14 shooting days, which she says gave the character a raw, intense feel, and she credited the director for trusting her own interpretation, marking their fourth project together after Hell, Jung'e, and the sermon Netflix titles. Looking ahead, the 30-year veteran, who is also drawing praise for her role in the TVN drama 100 Days of Lies, says she plans to keep cherishing each project and acting with sincerity, just as she always has.
SPEAKER_01Big career news for Twice is Jihyo, who is officially leaving JYP Entertainment after 21 years with the company. Industry reports say she shared the update through a handwritten letter on social media, explaining that going independent is less a conclusion to her past and more a choice about how she wants to live the years ahead. She has launched her own label called Emethius, with the name inspired by the English word emit, meaning to give off or radiate. The new agency will begin with Jiho's solo activities, then expand by scouting and signing other artists and branching into content beyond music. Fans can breathe easy though, because she stressed that twice remains an essential part of her life, and she hopes to keep sharing the stage with the members for a long time to come.
SPEAKER_02The group appeared on Good Day LA, the morning news program on Fox 11 on October 20th, where they talked about their recent festival performance and their new album. Just two days earlier, they headlined the 82 World LA Festival at the Los Angeles State Historic Park, and member Chongzhop said it was an honor to take the headliner spot. Kiho described their set as a roller coaster with fun, slow, and emotional sounds, and said the crowd laughed, cried, and danced right along with them. The group also teased their 10th mini album, Blow Up, which arrives on November 6th at 2 in the afternoon Korean time, and Keho said he hopes the group will truly blow up, feeling confident that with their fans' love they can leap even higher.
SPEAKER_01Crush and I, you have finally teamed up for their first official music collaboration, and fans are absolutely buzzing. Crush released the new digital single Big O Dog featuring IU on October 21st at 6 in the evening career time. The duet playfully captures the big and small misalignments that come up when two very different people fall in love, blending Crush's smooth vocals with Ayu's clear, delicate tone. Online reactions have been glowing, with fans calling the pair voice fairies who have met at last and praising their natural harmony and Ayu's fresh visuals in the music video. Crush shared that he asked Ayu because she was the only voice he could imagine fitting the song, adding that it never would have come out into the world without her. So now everyone is watching to see how the track performs.
SPEAKER_02Incheon City announced it will set up measures to prevent a repeat of last August's controversy, when British band Massive Attack played as a headliner and showed footage related to the May 18th democratization movement on the big screens during their cover of Shotai Jianboi's song Shideyugam. Some viewers said the subtitles, which suggested the United States supported the killing of civilians, distorted historical facts. Under the new approach, organizers plan to share guidelines and strengthen communication with artists starting from the booking stage, though industry reports say it is still unclear whether the city will actually review performance content in advance. Mayor Pakdande called the incident deeply regrettable and admitted the follow-up response was lacking. While one side argues the festival needs responsible principles on historical accuracy, and the other warns that pre-screening could chill artistic freedom.
SPEAKER_01Spotify is cracking down on AI-generated music, announcing that it has removed more than 50 million tracks from its recommendation lists. According to industry reports, the streaming giant described these songs as slop, meaning low-quality AI content that repeatedly violated platform rules by copying existing artists or artificially creating media. To spot them, Spotify analyzed which songs listeners skipped most often over the past six months, then combined that feedback with metadata and outside AI detection tools to update its recommendation system. The platform also pointed out that not every creator using AI is a bad actor, noting that its AI credits feature, launched in April, lets artists disclose how AI was used in a song, with tens of thousands of entries still being filed every day. Profiles judged to be AI made now get an AI persona badge and are only recommended to listeners who follow them directly. And Spotify says: the more AI music floods the market, the more people will treasure human artistry.
SPEAKER_02Netflix has dropped the final trailer for the film Possible Love, directed by Li Changdong, and it's a stunner. The two-minute and 15-second preview opens with Chon Doyun's character, Miok, singing a song with a smile that somehow looks deeply sorrowful, before hinting at the tangled emotions between her and her husband, played by Su Chonggu. Chooyozhong and Chuin Song also appear as a couple whose vacation invitation and villa visit set off a mysterious ripple as scenes from Miok and her husband's past weave together. The trailer also highlights glowing reviews from major international outlets, with one calling it the Radiant Work of the Greatest Living Director, and the film has already made history as the first Korean movie to win the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice International Film Festival. Mark your calendars, because Possible Love arrives on Netflix on November 6th.
SPEAKER_01BTS has just landed a nomination at a prestigious international film festival in Poland. Industry reports say the Torun-based camera image festival revealed its music video competition lineup, choosing 18 finalists out of 300 submissions. The group is up for Best Music Video for Swim, the title track from their fifth studio album Arerang, which came out in March. The video was directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Panu Muino, with cinematographer Nikita Kuzmenko handling the camera work, and it's competing against clips from Harry Styles, Madonna, and Sabrina Carpenter. CameraMidge, which began in 1993, celebrates the art of cinematography, and BTS are currently on their Aderang World Tour, with shows in Buenos Aires on October 21st, 23rd, and 24th.
SPEAKER_02Here's an update on actress Nana, formerly of the group After School. According to her agency, the man convicted of breaking into her home last November has now been indicted for false accusation after filing a countercomplaint against her. He had entered her home in Guri, threatening Nana and her mother with a weapon and demanding money, and both women were injured while subduing him, with recovery times of 33 and 31 days. He was sentenced to seven years in prison at trial in June, but he appealed, denied having a weapon, and then accused Nana of attempted murder and robbery causing injury. Police ruled her actions self-defense and declined to send the case forward, so Nana filed her own complaint, and prosecutors added a false accusation charge in September after witness interviews and a phone forensic review. Her agency says it hopes Nana and her family will no longer suffer from false claims or secondary harm, and it promises to keep doing everything it can to protect her safety and well-being.
SPEAKER_01NCT's Jisong is stepping up to sing the theme song for his own drama, and he's teaming up with groupmate Chandla for it. The duo will release a track called Smash It on October 22nd at 6 pm Korean time on major music platforms as the theme for the ENA drama Crash 2 Rage on the Road. Industry reports describe the song as having a heavy bass and electronic sound that captures the thrill of a car chase, and the music video is packed with flashy car chase action. This is the first time the pair, nicknamed the Chenji Kombo, have worked together on a song, so their long-practised vocal chemistry is the main highlight. The OST arrives more than three weeks before the drama premieres on November 16th at 10pm on ENA, where Jizong plays Chideze, an upbeat rookie officer known as the Traffic Division's Idol.
SPEAKER_02Kim Ji-won's medical drama, Dr. X, The Age of the White Mafia, has topped Netflix's global non-English shows chart for a second straight week, according to industry reports. The series pulled in 7.1 million views over the week of October 12th through 18th, bringing its total to 30 million hours watched. It also widened its reach, climbing into the top 10 in 48 countries and regions, up from 36 the week before, and it claimed the number one spot in seven of them, with fans from Argentina and Brazil to Turkey, Egypt, and Kenya tuning in. Back home on SBS, the show adapted from a Japanese drama about a genius surgeon who takes on power with sheer skill, keeps climbing, with ratings rising from 11.4% in episode 1, the highest premiere of any miniseries this year, to 18.5% in episode 4. Elsewhere on the chart, the Netflix series Charge Me landed in second place, while TVN's 100 Days of Lies came in at number 4.
SPEAKER_01Alpha Drive 1 is back with a fresh single called Talk To Me, arriving on October 22nd at 6 in the evening Korean time on major music platforms, according to their agency Wake One. The track first appeared on their second mini album, Unbreakable Boy Beast, which came out in August, and it's now getting its own spotlight release. Industry reports describe it as an indie altpop song, blending bright, refreshing synth sounds with a smooth RB groove that shows off the members' deeper emotional side. The group also dropped cinematic poster images, featuring the members in wet hair styling surrounded by water, creating a mysterious, movie-like mood that has fans buzzing. The agency says the group, already loved for their fluttery, heart-fluttering songs, will now show a very different vibe, and a music video follows on the 27th.
SPEAKER_02Our featured song today is Come Into My World by Woods, a self-written rock track inspired by the upbeat, high-energy rock and roll sound of the 1980s. Expect gritty guitar riffs, driving drums, and Woods' powerful vocals, all wrapped around a message to leave your worries behind and enjoy the moment. Here's a quick preview.
SPEAKER_01He said he thought for a long time about how to break the news and that it weighs heavily on him because of the fans who have supported him for so long. His contract ends on November 1st, and he explained that various circumstances made it difficult to keep going, adding that he wished he could have shown even more. Liu thanked his fellow members for growing up alongside him from a young age into adulthood, said he is cheering for their new starts, and promised to move forward rather than stay in fear as he walks a new path. This comes just after Tempest announced a pause in group activities on the 20th, with Member Hyok set to enlist on the 26th, while Hanbin, Hyongzhop, Lin Tan, and Pere stay with the agency to continue solo activities.
SPEAKER_02Big news for action fans! Ma Dong Zhok is heading to Hollywood. Industry reports say the actor will star in the American remake of the 2019 crime thriller The Gangster, the Cop, The Devil. And he is set to play the same role he had in the original, the fierce gangboss Tang Gongsoo. Keanu Reeves is reportedly in talks to join the cast, though his role has not been revealed yet. James Wan, the director behind Saw, The Conjuring, and Aquaman, will direct, which marks his first feature film since Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in 2023. The original film was invited to the Midnight Screening section at the Cannes Film Festival and sold to 174 countries, even topping the overseas sales record of Train to Busan.
SPEAKER_01Get ready for a chilly mystery, because the film Heavy Snow, directed by Hong Uizong, is officially set to hit theaters in South Korea on November 18th. Distributor Showbox confirmed the date and also dropped the main trailer, which has fans buzzing over the pairing of veteran actor Kim Yun-zhog and Kugyohan. The story is a mystery drama set in an isolated rural train station, where a stationmaster on the verge of retirement and his successor discover a dead body. In the trailer, Kim Yunzhok's character is preparing for his final shift when Kugyoan's character arrives, and the two clash over whether to call the police, with one even pointing a gun. With police stranded by the heavy snowfall, industry reports say the big questions are whether the newcomer is really the true successor, who the victim is, and who the real culprit might be.
SPEAKER_02Netflix is getting into the girl group business with a brand new audition project called We Go High. News sources say the streaming giant posted a casting call on its YouTube channel today, aimed at students from performing arts high schools. What makes this one special is that Netflix will be involved in every step, from recruiting contestants and producing the audition program to the final girl group debut, with SMC and C lending a helping hand after the two signed a memorandum of understanding recently. Eligible applicants are first and second year students at high schools with arts or broadcasting majors, as well as incoming students for next year. The show will be directed by Pak Jinkyong and Li Jesu, the former NBC producers behind hit variety shows like Infinite Challenge and My Little Television, and the team promises to capture the pure passion of young dreamers and expand the K-pop fandom.
SPEAKER_01Rapper Bill Stax, whose real name is Shin Dungyo and who is 46 years old, has been indicted on charges of buying and smoking cannabis, according to industry reports. Prosecutors in Suon say they filed the case on October 16th under the law on the management of narcotics, alleging he purchased cannabis and cannabis jelly from a dealer last November. His name surfaced while authorities were investigating that dealer, who was already indicted in July for growing cannabis and making jelly at home. Fans of Korean hip-hop may know him better by his former stage name Vasco, and he rose to fame after his debut album in 2004 and an appearance on the survival show Show Me the Money 3. This is not his first brush with drug charges, since he was investigated in 2015 and indicted without detention in 2018. And he has also been a vocal supporter of legalizing cannabis, though officials stress that the legalization debate is separate from whether current law was broken, and the court will decide his legal responsibility.
SPEAKER_02Rookie Girl group A20 Lite just scored a music show win only one week after debuting. The group took first place on the show with their first digital single, Neon, which was broadcast on the 20th. They released only a digital single with no physical album, yet Neon has stayed at number one on Mellon's top 100 for six days in a row, and it has also topped Spotify's career chart and YouTube Music's music video chart. Industry reports say the members thanked producers Li Su Man and Yu Yongjin in their acceptance speech and promised to keep working hard to become artists people can be proud of. They also performed Neon live during the Encore stage, showing off smooth vocals, and fans can catch them next on ShowCampion on the 21st.
SPEAKER_0117's unit duo, Zhong Han and Joshua are earning international praise for their debut mini album Dreamscape, which dropped on the 19th. The project explores the blurry line between fantasy and reality, and Variety highlighted the making of the album, saying the pair has found a duo sound that is truly their own. Vogue Singapore called it a fantastic world of sound that captures the feelings between dreams and reality, while El Singapore described it as lighter and dreamier than other unit projects, showing off their musical talent and chemistry. The title track, 12 o'clock, drew special applause for its polished production, off-beat rhythms, and captivating vocals. Fans are responding in a big way too, with first day sales topping 650,000 copies, and the album landing at number one on the Hanteo Daily Chart, and the duo hits the Mnet M countdown stage on the 22nd.

On the other side, singer Yang Jiyun cheers on Piny Ho, who answers with Yang's song Do Not Cross That River. Industry reports also say the episode brings some laughs as Ungaon fires up when her husband gets pulled into a palm pushing contest, and the show's last episode scored an average viewership rating of 4.2%.
SPEAKER_01Letin boy group Santos Bravos is officially coming back next month, celebrating one year since their debut with a brand new album due out on November 20th. The group teased fans on social media with an image of paper cranes and a hand silhouette. And they will also perform at the Billboard Latin Music Awards on October 22nd, right before the comeback. Since debuting in Mexico in October of last year, the five members, Drew, Caué, Alejandro, Kenneth, and Gabby, have built a global fanbase, with their first EP, Dual, landing at number 17 on Billboard's top Latin pop albums chart. They have played big festivals like Estereo Picnic in Colombia and Pecate Pal Norte in Mexico, became the first Latin American artists on the K-Con LA 2026 lineup, and even earned an invite to Shakira's ES Latina 2026. They have also bridged Latin music and K-pop through remixes with high-label artists like Enhypen, Le Serafim, and I Lit, so this anniversary release should be one to watch.
SPEAKER_02Trotstar Songain is clearing the air after a US copyright lawsuit against her was dismissed by a federal court. According to industry reports, the son of the late composer Li Zhe ho, who wrote the classic Tanzangi Biariguge, claimed he inherited the American rights to his father's music and sued Songain, along with other Korean singers and broadcasters, for performing the songs without permission. Her agency, JSTAR, explained that the federal court in the Central District of California ruled it had no jurisdiction over Songain and tossed the case on August 27, local time, and the court also rejected a request to reconsider. The agency said the plaintiff had repeatedly sent emails with unfounded infringement claims and demanded a payment settlement, but the company refused to negotiate and responded firmly on principle. The court also reportedly warned the plaintiff for misusing AI to file sloppy paperwork, and the agency urged fans not to worry, stressing there is no legal issue at all.
SPEAKER_01Twice as Tayun is teaming up with actor Tao Min for a sweet first love romance in the upcoming film Cloud and Gurumi, which is aiming for a release next year. The story follows a cheerful girl who has used a wheelchair her whole life and a promising young swimmer hiding private wounds as the two slowly become special to each other. Tahyan plays Gurum, a 17-year-old art club member with a bright pink wheelchair and plenty of self-confidence, who meets the swimmer Chun Zan when she visits the school pool hoping to sketch a swimmer's abs. Tao Min takes on Chun Zan, a standout athlete whose looks and physique hide deep insecurities, making it hard for him to open his heart even as he grows closer to Gurum. Directed by Chu Zanmin, who previously co-directed several well-known dramas, the film has its filmmakers inviting fans to look forward to how these two actors with very different charms capture the flutter and growing pains of first love.
SPEAKER_02On August 15th, at the Chonju Ultimate Music Festival held at Chunju University, she waved a black flag and shouted, Long live Korean independence! And the crowd reportedly cheered along at the time. Now that the footage is circulating again on social media and online communities, opinions are split, with some praising it as a meaningful nod to the holiday, while others question why she chose a black flag instead of the Korean national flag. One column even said the spirit of celebrating independence was admirable, but criticized how a public figure delivered a historical message on stage. Industry reports suggest the renewed attention may be tied to a recent string of national flag controversies, including actress Kim Guri's Cafe Flag mix-up and an awkward flag raising delay at the Aichi Nagoya Asian Games.
SPEAKER_01Singer-songwriter Yeun Sang, who first rose to fame on the survival show Unite, is kicking off a brand new musical chapter today. His first mini album, titled Garden of Dreams, drops at 6 this evening, career time. The release features four tracks, including the title song of the same name, along with Reason, I'll Be a Child, and Love Bigger Than Love. His agency says the album shows his deepening musical sensibility and growth as an artist, and it hopes the music will bring gentle comfort and empathy to listeners, with E planning to ramp up his activities after the release.
SPEAKER_02That wraps up today's episode of K-Buzz.
