SPEAKER_00Today is October 9th, 2026, and we've got some incredible stories to share with you.
SPEAKER_02Let's dive right in!
SPEAKER_00Musical theatre power couple Kim So-hyun and Zon Jun-ho are celebrating Han Guru Day in the most meaningful way possible, dropping a brand new single that pays tribute to the Korean language and culture. Their agency, Palm Tree Island, announced the official release of Widehan Adirang, a modern crossover reinterpretation of the beloved traditional folk song Adirang. The track first debuted during their joint concert and received such an overwhelming response from fans that the couple decided to make its official release coincide with Hangarude for extra significance. The song beautifully reimagines Adirang as a flowing wave, starting from a small spring and growing into a mighty ocean, symbolizing how this centuries-old melody continues to reach audiences around the world, all brought to life through the couple's powerful vocals, rich orchestral strings, and traditional Korean instruments. With top session musicians and choir members joining the production, the result is a soaring anthem of unity, carrying a hopeful message that calls on everyone from Halazan to Pekdushan to rise together as one.
SPEAKER_0217's Chonghan and Joshua are proving they have no limits when it comes to musical genres with their upcoming unit album. The duo dropped seven track samplers from their mini-album Dreamscape early this morning, showcasing everything from dance rock to band sound to house music. The title track 12 o'clock reimagines 70s and 80s disco and funk with a modern twist, while songs like No Looking Back and Joshua's solo track Not Personal bring raw, guitar-driven band energy and alternative pop vibes. Fans can also look forward to RB soul vibes on OnePlus One, a dreamy solo from Tonghan called Coloring, and house-infused tracks rounding out this incredibly diverse record. The accompanying visuals are just as striking, featuring a mysterious feathered creature circling the two members in imagery reminiscent of the Oroboros myth, blending fantasy and reality throughout. Tonghan and Joshua will officially release Dreamscape on October 19th, followed by their dreaming concert at Inchun Inspire Arena from October 31st through November 1st.
SPEAKER_00BTS is chasing history at the 2026 Kids' Choice Awards, scoring three nominations and aiming for their fifth career trophy. Nickelodeon just dropped the nominee list, putting the group in the running for Favorite Music Group or Duo, with their fifth studio album Arirang up for Favorite Album, and lead single Swim competing for Favorite Song. That album category is stacked, pitting BTS against heavy hitters like Taylor Swift, Drake, and Sabrina Carpenter, while the song category has them going head to head with Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, and Olivia Rodrigo. Remember, BTS already holds the record for most wins in the favorite music group category, having taken it home four years straight from 2020 to 2023, so a fifth win this year would be a massive milestone. Mark your calendars because the ceremony airs live on CBS from Los Angeles on November 14th, and fans will be watching closely to see if BTS can add to their already impressive Kids' Choice Awards trophy case.
SPEAKER_02Rising Star Kim Doyun is making waves at the Busan International Film Festival with her powerful lead performance in director Chung Juri's film Bora, a bold reimagining of Freud's famous case study on hysteria. At a press conference held in Busan, Kim Doyun got emotional as she opened up about connecting with her complex character, revealing that one pivotal moment during her audition brought her to tears when she realized just how lonely and misunderstood Dora truly was. The film, which previously premiered at the Cannes Director's Fortnite, marks Kim Doyun's first time attending the Pusan Festival and her first leading role, a challenging feat she embraced fully, even approaching the film's intimate scenes with confidence, thanks to the trust she built with her director. Co-star Anbo Zakura also played a huge supportive role on set, with Kim Doyun crediting their bond for helping her stay fully immersed in such an emotionally demanding part. Reflecting on the experience, Kim Doyun shared that this story means the world to her, and she hopes audiences watching Bora will come to love it just as much as she does.
SPEAKER_00Band Lucy's Choisangop is adding some serious sparks to the small screen with his latest OST contribution. The track, called Turning Pages, dropped at 6 in the evening on October 9th across major music platforms, created specifically for the Netflix series Charge Me Up. This romantic pop rock number captures the feeling of writing a love story page by page, with Choi Zhang Yup's signature clear and refreshing voice bringing all the butterflies to life, backed by energetic guitar riffs and synthpop production. The song is set to amplify the on-screen chemistry between stars Kim Jong-guang and Che Zubin, whose characters are caught in a romantic comedy about a man with a failing artificial heart battery and a woman with electric powers. With this new track, Choizang Yopp beautifully elevates the romance narrative that fans have been eagerly following between the two leads.
SPEAKER_02Girl group Kiki is making their mark on the global sports stage, taking the court for halftime performances at the NBA China Games 2026, happening now through October 11th at the Venetian Arena in Macau. The members, Tsiu, Isor, Sui, Heum, and Kia, kicked things off at a fan festival event where they got to meet basketball legend Jeremy Lin, even sharing a fun viral style challenge together that had K-pop and NBA fans buzzing online. The group hit the halftime stage today for the preseason matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets, bringing their signature high-energy performance to a whole new audience. And they'll follow up with a special fan meeting set at NBA House before wrapping things up with one more halftime show on the 11th. This marks Kiki's first time representing at such a massive global NBA event since their debut, and they're hoping to showcase their Gen Z charm to fans around the world. The timing couldn't be better either, since the group is riding high after recently picking up both Song of the Year and Artist of the Year honors at a domestic music award show, proving their star power keeps climbing.
SPEAKER_00Director Yom Gubok is finally getting some rest after what he calls a truly long, long night. And that's fitting, since his debut feature film is literally titled Long Long Night. The 3D animated film, based on the beloved novel about a white rhino named Norden who protects an abandoned penguin egg after losing his own family, took four grueling years to complete, including an 18-month funding gap that nearly derailed the entire project. After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival, the film made its way to the Busan International Film Festival, where it stands as the only animated feature in this year's competition lineup. A recognition that left the director saying he genuinely doubted his own ears when he heard the news. Adding emotional depth to the project, actress Susie lent her voice for both narration and the original soundtrack, with the director revealing their long friendship dating back to a cosmetics commercial made her say yes almost immediately once he pitched the idea. Looking ahead, Yom shared he has no plans to stick to just one genre, revealing he already has completed scripts for a romance film and a horror project, plus two or three series ideas, as he hopes to freely move between live action and animation in his future career.
SPEAKER_0217's Jong Han and Joshua are proving just how powerful their duo pairing is, selling out tickets for their very first concert series within moments of the presale opening. According to industry reports from their label Pledis Entertainment, fans snapped up seats for the Inchon shows almost instantly after the fan club presale launched, showing massive anticipation ahead of their mini album release. The concert, titled Journey into Dreaming, will bring their upcoming album Dreamscape to life on stage, with three shows happening at Inchon's Inspire Arena from October 30th through November 1st, plus live streaming for fans who can't attend in person. From there, the tour expands internationally, hitting Japan's Saipama Super Arena in November, Macau in December, and continuing into early 2026 with stops in Taipei, Busan and Hong Kong, giving fans across Asia multiple chances to catch the pair live. Their new mini album Dreamscape drops on October 19th, featuring the dance rock title track 12 o'clock, alongside house, RB, and soul-influenced tracks that showcase a bold new musical direction for the beloved duo.
SPEAKER_00Our featured song today comes from Idol's Yuchi with her solo title track Stay of her new mini album Architi 27. Yuti wrote and composed every track herself, and this one brings a bright, upbeat band sound paired with a heartfelt message about pushing forward together, even when the road ahead feels uncertain. Let's take a listen to a preview. Such a refreshing, youthful track that shows just how far she's grown as a singer-songwriter at 27. From the kitschy freak to the boom bap of MO, she keeps proving her range, and this cheerful band sound might be her most heartfelt yet. Now, let's dive into more headlines.
SPEAKER_02Veteran actor Ru Sung Yong sat down for a heartfelt chat at Actors' House in Busan, reflecting on a career built on relentless drive and newfound self-care. Born in 1970 into one of Korea's most competitive generations, Roo admitted he spent decades pushing himself nonstop, picking up ballet, Korean dance, and piano just to sharpen his craft, all while battling fears about an uncertain future. He traced his acting journey from a middle school encounter with the play Faust that left his heart racing through theater training and military service performances, eventually transitioning to film in the artistically bold Korean cinema scene of the 1990s. The actor opened up about pivotal moments, including advice from director Ijunek during the filming of War of the Arrows, who told him that digging deeper into a role, like digging into the earth, eventually reveals something and pure, a philosophy that shaped his approach to films like Masquerade and Miss Granny. Reflecting on iconic roles from Miracle in Cell No. 7 to his award-winning turn in moving and his recent big win at the Peksang Arts Awards for the drama Family by Choice, Ru shared that he's finally learning to give himself gifts too, like walking Teju's Ulla Trails to reconnect with himself, as he looks ahead to his newest project, Chongane, premiering at the Pusan International Film Festival.
SPEAKER_00Rising K-pop group Ampersand 1 is putting a spotlight on their youngest member, 20-year-old Kim Sung-moo, ahead of their upcoming domestic comeback. In a recent interview, the standing 181 cm tall idol opened up about his journey, revealing that while fans see his sweet and caring side, he's actually a quiet introvert who treasures alone time when he's offstage. Kim Sung-mo also shared his growing passion for songwriting, crediting artists like Keshi for inspiring him to pick up new instruments and craft his own late-night mellow tracks that reflect a softer side than his group's energetic concepts. Looking ahead, the idol says he's only shown about 30% of his full potential so far, and he's determined to prove his vocal skills can stand alongside K-pop's best singers, while helping Ampersand 1 climb toward bigger stages, with dreams as big as a Billboard top 10 spot and even a World Cup halftime performance. With growing recognition overseas, especially after a recent European tour, Kim Sungmo and his groupmates remain confident that their belief in themselves will carry them even further on the global stage.
SPEAKER_02The hard-boiled crime drama, directed by Han Jun-hee of DP Fame, follows two detectives, one from Seoul and one from Tokyo, chasing a chilling serial murder case that crosses national borders. During an open talk session in Bushan, Sunzokgu revealed he dropped significant weight for the role and shared that from their very first scene together, he instantly trusted his co-star, saying, Some on-screen chemistry simply cannot be forced, and this one just worked. Nakayama Eita, a longtime fan of the director, added that every scene alongside Sun Zoku felt electric, even just watching him act. The two stars also push themselves to perform lines in each other's native languages, with Sun Zokgu recording Korean pronunciation guides for his co-star to practice with each night, showing the dedication fans can expect when Blue Path premieres on Netflix this November 20th.
SPEAKER_00Steve Yu is opening up to fans after winning his third straight court victory in his long-running visa battle with South Korea. The Seoul High Court recently upheld an earlier ruling that found the Los Angeles consulate wrongly denied his visa application, marking yet another legal win in a saga that has dragged on for over two decades. In an emotional social media post, the former star reflected on the 24 years since he lost his ability to enter Korea following a controversial citizenship decision made right before his scheduled military service, admitting he is now a father of four, approaching his 50th birthday and still searching for how to make things right. He thanked fans who have stayed loyal without expecting anything in return, saying their support moves him to tears of both gratitude and guilt. And he apologized for the pain his past actions caused while expressing hope for a future reunion. Despite winning in court multiple times, including previous victories that went all the way to the Supreme Court, the consulate has repeatedly denied his visa anyway, keeping Steve Yu in a frustrating legal limbo as he continues hoping to one day stand before his supporters again on Korean soil.
SPEAKER_02Taking on corrupt hospital cartels with pure skill while hiding a softer, clumsier side and deep backstory outside the OR. This marks SBS's first medical noir entry in its beloved cathartic drama lineup, following hits like Taxi Driver and Kingdom Section Chief Kim, delivering that same satisfying justice against corruption thrill fans love. The real highlight though is the romance between Kim Jiuan and Yi Jong-un, playing business partners who share a deep bond forged through shared pain across generations, with director Yi Jong Nin praising their chemistry as something that goes beyond acting into genuine trust and comfort. Rounding out the ensemble are Son Yun-ju, Kimu Sok, and a strong supporting cast playing hospital staff and power players. And with the teaser already racking up over 11 million views, this one is shaping up to be a must-watch this fall.
SPEAKER_00In a handwritten letter shared on social media, the idol expressed deep regret, apologizing especially to young men who are faithfully completing their mandatory service and to fans who felt let down by his actions. Industry reports first flagged concerns back in December 2024, revealing that Song had skipped work on 102 out of 430 required attendance days during his service. Earlier this month, the Seoul Western District Court handed him a one-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, meaning he avoided actual jail time. Song acknowledged that his apology came later than it should have, admitting his past choices were irresponsible and vowed to fulfill his remaining duties with a more responsible attitude moving forward.
SPEAKER_02Actor Kim Namgil is celebrating Hunger Day's 100th anniversary with a heartfelt act of giving back. Professor Zogyongduk shared on social media that he teamed up with Kim Namgil to donate educational supplies, including laptops, to a Korean language school in the Basque region of Spain. This year marks a full century since Hunger Day was first established back in 1926, originally known as Kagyanae. Kim Namgil has been working alongside Professor Sa since 2024 on this global Hangar Outreach campaign, previously supporting Korean schools in cities like New York, Vancouver, Budapest, Mexico City, and Auckland. Looking ahead, fans can catch Kim Namgil in his upcoming film Dream of the Peaceful Garden, where he takes on the role of Grand Prince Suyang, along with his role in the new SBS drama Nightmare.
SPEAKER_00Director Bong Jun-ho is diving into brand new territory, and we mean that literally, with his very first animated feature film called Ally, now officially set to premiere next July. Industry reports confirm the film will debut in France on July 14th, with Korean audiences getting their own theatrical release that same month and a release in the United States to follow. The story follows a baby squid named Ally and her deep-sea friends living in an ocean trench, whose curiosity about the human world kicks off an unexpected adventure to the surface after a plane crash changes everything. This ambitious project brings together top talent from 12 countries, featuring voice performances from stars like Bradley Cooper, Dave Batista, Finn Wolfhard, and Ayo Edabiri, alongside Visual Effects wizardry from the studio behind Inception and Dune. With Bongjoon Ho's signature blend of heart, humor, and stunning imagination driving the visuals, animation fans and longtime followers of his work have plenty to look forward to when Ally finally surfaces in theaters next year.
