SPEAKER_00We're your hosts bringing you all the hottest updates from the K-pop and K-drama world.
SPEAKER_01Today is October 2nd, 2026, and we've got some incredible stories to share with you.
SPEAKER_00Let's dive right in.
SPEAKER_01Big news from the Korean film world has Showbox just revealed the star-studded cast for the upcoming action flick, Family Force, bringing together Cha Soung-wan, Ra Mi Ran, Park Hyung-Sik, and Bek Yoon Sik for a story about three generations of a Marine family caught in the middle of a terror attack. Cha Soong Wan leads as the family patriarch and former Marine Sergeant Major, while Ra Mi Ran brings her signature comedic charm as his wife, who's the emotional backbone of the family. Park Hyung-Sik plays their son, a Marine Special Reconnaissance Sergeant, whose final leave takes an unexpected turn, and veteran actor Baik Yoon Sik rounds out the family as the decorated grandfather and war hero. The film is being directed by Wan Xin Yoon, known for his sharp action storytelling in hits like Her, Battle of Jiangsari, and Memoir of a Murderer. And filming is currently underway with no release date set just yet, so fans will want to keep an eye out for more updates as production continues.
SPEAKER_00Shiny's One W is lining up quite the star-studded lineup for his upcoming single album, Misconception, and this time he's teaming up with Zico. His agency, Griffin Entertainment, confirmed that Yanu and Zico will join forces on the second title track called Tic Tac Toe, a fun concept inspired by the classic grid game, blending their contrasting vocal tones for a dynamic, layered sound. The teaser poster already has fans buzzing, showing both artists rocking casual yet effortlessly cool looks. This collaboration comes right after 1AW's previously announced duet, Mind Games, with Yuju, making Misconception a showcase of some seriously impressive crossover talent. The single marks Onya B's first release in about seven months since his fifth mini album, Tough Love. And with a triple title track approach this time, he's proving his range as both an artist and producer, with the album set to drop on all major music platforms on October 20th at 6 in the evening.
SPEAKER_01BTS is making history in South America, and Bogota is rolling out the red carpet to prove it. The Colombian Capitol has officially named the group Honory Foreign Guests through a special city decree, recognizing their incredible impact on Korean music and culture since their 2013 debut. Bogota's mayor, Carlos Fernando Galan, gushed that BTS is more than just a band, saying he wants every fan to experience the city itself during their stay. The economic ripple effect is already massive, with fans expected to spend around 99 billion Colombian pesos, that's roughly 46 billion Korean one, and flight bookings to Bogota have jumped by over 46% compared to last year. The city is going all out too, lighting up landmarks in purple and adding extra transit routes for concert nights as BTS kicks off their Are Rang tour through South America, with stops planned in Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo after Bogota.
SPEAKER_00After here's a scary moment for fans of Boy Group All Day Project. Member Tarzan took quite a tumble during a university festival performance at Concook University on October 1st, attempting a crowd surf off the stage edge that went seriously wrong. Instead of being caught, he fell straight down to the ground, with many fans in the crowd too busy filming on their phones to properly support him. The idol quickly got back on his feet with help from security, never letting go of his microphone, and immediately checked on the audience's safety before continuing the show, even asking fans nearby if anyone got hurt. The clip spread fast online, sparking mixed reactions, with some criticizing the risky stunt given how many hands were occupied with phones instead of catching him, while others praised Tarzan's quick recovery and his concern for fans over his own well-being. Especially as he continues branching out with recent appearances on the Netflix variety show.
SPEAKER_01Performing under the name NON, Hong Jung will showcase a completely different musical vibe from his group work, playing the outdoor circuit ground stage, from 8 to 9 in the evening. What makes this performance extra special is that Hong Jung personally handled the remixing and arranging for his entire set list, including reworked IT's tracks, putting his own producing skills front and center. Industry insiders say this show will highlight just how much musical range and creative control Hong Jung brings to the table, making it a must-watch moment for IT's fans and electronic music lovers alike.
SPEAKER_00The film Assassins has officially pulled out of Orbusan International Film Festival events, with organizers confirming the cancellation came at the production company's request due to safety concerns for both audiences and attendees. This follows the earlier cancellation of the Actors House Lee Minho event, which was scrapped for similar reasons. The controversy stems from accusations that the film, based on a historical incident from 1974, distorts historical facts, leading to a wave of review bombing and harsh personal attacks against the cast online. The production team addressed the backlash by clarifying that while the story draws inspiration from real events, it incorporates creative interpretation and isn't intended to redefine historical truth, adding that they respect differing viewpoints given the sensitive subject matter. Despite all the controversy, Assassins remains unstoppable at the box office, holding the number one spot with over 1.8 million admissions and continuing to top reservation rankings for Korean films.
SPEAKER_01Steve Yoon just scored another legal win in his long-running battle to set foot back in Korea. News sources report that the Seoul High Court ruled in his favor on October 2nd, upholding a lower court decision in his third lawsuit against the Los Angeles Consulate General for denying his visa. This marks yet another chapter in a saga that stretches back over a decade, with Yoon previously winning two earlier cases all the way up to the Supreme Court, only for consulate officials to keep blocking his entry anyway. The singer, who debuted back in 1997 with hits like Gasse and Nanana, became a lightning rod for controversy after leaving for the United States right before his mandatory military service and gaining American citizenship, a move that led the Justice Ministry to place him on Courier's entry ban list under immigration law. Whether this latest court victory will finally translate into an actual visa remains to be seen. But for now, Yoon's 11-year legal fight to come home continues.
SPEAKER_00Musician and guitarist Lee Sang-soon is back on the airwaves after taking a month off from his radio show. He returned to his MBC FM 4U program, Perfect Day, this is Lee Sang Soon on October 1st, greeting listeners again after stepping away following his broadcast on August 25th. Lee had been dealing with a sudden health issue, which turned out to be a diagnosis related to vagus nerve dysfunction. But he reassured fans that he's taking his recovery seriously, even picking up morning runs to stay healthy. During his break, several fellow artists, including Thomas Cook, Suang Jin Huan, Guangjina, and Zhuang Ji Hyung stepped in to host the show in his absence. Li, who has been hosting the program since November 2024, thanked his listeners warmly, joking that they should think of his absence as a slightly longer vacation rather than worry too much.
SPEAKER_01Actor Lee Min-Ho has pulled out of this year's Busan International Film Festival, with organizers cancelling his scheduled actors' house event just days before it was set to happen. The special programme was supposed to bring Lee Min-Ho together with fellow stars Kim Go-uon, Kim Min-ha, Roo Sung-ryong, Ju Ji Hoon, and Shin Min-A for a fan meet at Busan's Shinsagai department store. Festival organizers kept their explanation brief, simply citing unavoidable circumstances and asking for audience understanding, which has sparked plenty of speculation online. Many believe the cancellation is tied to the ongoing controversy surrounding Lee Min-ho's film Assassins, a project centered on the 1974 shooting of First Lady Yuck Young Su that has drawn criticism for allegedly distorting historical events by suggesting a political cover-up beyond the convicted shooter. The production company behind the film has pushed back against these claims, insisting the movie was never meant to assert a definitive conclusion or rewrite established facts.
SPEAKER_00The upcoming EAE's A-drama Love Doctor is being released as a heartfelt tribute to its late director, the legendary Anne Pansiok, who passed away this past August after completing filming but before the editing process wrapped up. At the press conference, stars Chu Yang-woo and Kim Soo-yoon shared touching memories of the director, describing him as someone who meticulously planned every scene while still giving actors creative freedom to make choices their own way. The romance drama follows graduate students in a robotics lab navigating love and personal growth, with Chu Yang-woo playing a former swimmer, turned robotics researcher, and Kim So-hyun portraying a new lab member figuring out her next steps in life. Rather than focusing on dramatic plot twists, the cast emphasized that Director Awn wanted to capture authentic, relatable human emotions, believing that viewers connect most deeply when they see themselves reflected in the character rather than being distracted by sensational storylines. Love Doctor premieres this Monday, October 5th, at 10 pm on ENA, with the series also available on KTGV and Disney Plus.
SPEAKER_01The track beautifully captures the emotions of enduring reality after Love has ended, with Woody's emotional vocals perfectly complementing Bora's signature tone. Let's take a listen to this touching ballad.
SPEAKER_00Since debuting with the group back in 2018, Yuki has become a familiar face there, even landing a regular spot on the hit variety show that's basically China's version of Running Man. On the music side, her solo title track Freak made history by charting for 100 consecutive weeks on Tencent Music's Korea chart, setting a record as the longest running entry ever, while both Freak and Radio Dum Dum earned official gold certifications. Her star power extends to live shows too, with her upcoming Guangzhou fan concert selling out all 10,000 tickets the moment they dropped, kicking off a tour that will also hit Chengdu, Beijing, and Shanghai. Adding to the excitement, Yuki is gearing up for her solo comeback on October 8th with her second mini album 27, featuring the title track Stay, and she's personally credited as a writer and composer on all six tracks, proving she's not just a performer, but a true artist in her own right.
SPEAKER_01The Grammy Awards are moving forward with their new best Asian pop music performance category, but two of K-pop's biggest names won't be in the running. Following BTS's decision back in July to skip the category, JYP Entertainment confirmed that Stray Kids has also chosen not to submit any music for consideration at the 69th Grammy Awards, even though the group had been widely tipped as a frontrunner to win. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. addressed the growing controversy in a statement, explaining that after weeks of conversations with leaders across the Asian music industry, the voices supporting the category ultimately outweighed the critics, and he believes keeping it is the right call for the music community as a whole. The category, which recognizes K-pop, J pop, C pop, and other Asian pop styles based on musical style rather than the artist's nationality, has sparked debate since its creation in June over whether it separates Asian artists from mainstream competition instead of including them. Despite the pushback, the Academy says submissions have come in strong, with nominees set to be announced on November 17th and the ceremony scheduled for February 7th in Los Angeles.
SPEAKER_00Twice as Nayan just took her solo career global, teaming up with popular Brazilian DJ Aloc for an exciting new collaboration track called Bye Bye Inhibitions. The song blends infectious dance pop production with Naon's smooth vocals, creating a festival-ready anthem that's all about letting loose and embracing the moment without any hesitation. Interestingly, Aloc actually gave fans a sneak peek of the track last month, surprising the crowd at Brazil's massive Rock in Rio festival with Nyon's voice before the official release. Beyond this exciting team up, Naion has been busy connecting with fans, celebrating her birthday with a special fan event and launching her own personal YouTube channel called I'm Naon. Looking ahead, the whole twice group is gearing up to celebrate their 11th debut anniversary with a special fan party called Once Upon a Thrill, happening later this month on October 17th.
SPEAKER_01Roy Kim is proving just how powerful his ticket sales really are as he gears up for his very first concert at the massive KSPO Dome in Seoul. The singers' upcoming shows on October 21st and 22nd sold out completely the moment tickets went on sale, prompting organizers to add a brand new date on October 20th to meet the overwhelming demand. That means fans will now get three full days with Roy Kim at this iconic venue, with the extra show's tickets opening for fan club members on October 12th and for the general public the following day. This milestone comes after four consecutive years of sold-out year-end concerts from 2022 through last year, and now he's set to fill one of Seoul's biggest stages for the first time in his career. Before taking the stage, Roy Kim is also dropping a brand new single called Cry Out Loud on October 6th, building excitement with short films and teasers featuring star-studded cameos from actors like Chu Young Wu, OK Techyon, Park Hyung Sik, Lee Jong Suk, Cha Tai Hun, and Jong Sung Il.
SPEAKER_00Eyelit just proved once again that their music has serious staying power overseas. Industry reports confirm that the group's debut track Magnetic has officially crossed 300 million streams in Japan alone, earning triple platinum certification from the Japan Record Industry Association. What makes this even more impressive is the timing, since Eyelit hit this milestone just two years and five months after release, making them the fastest overseas female act in history to reach that mark. The song previously set a record for the quickest platinum certification among girl groups both at home and abroad, and it added that extra 100 million streams in just seven months. Beyond their title track, other songs like Almond Chocolate and Lucky Girl Syndrome are also gaining traction in Japan with their own certifications, and fans won't have to wait long for more music since Eyelid is set to return with their fifth mini album Breakeven on October 26th.
SPEAKER_01Actor Sun Sukku is gearing up for an intense new chapter in his career, teaming up for a cross-border crime thriller that has fans buzzing with anticipation. Netflix just confirmed that the new series Blue Road will premiere on November 20th, bringing to life the hit comic about two detectives from Korea and Japan hunting down a bizarre and twisted killer. Sun Suk Koo plays soul detective Kim Sook, working alongside Japanese actor Nagayama Eta as Tokyo Detective Inos, and the newly released poster and teaser hint at a chilling case involving bloody messages written in both Korean and Japanese at the crime scene. The eerie tagline promises a twisted corpse, a mysterious message, and a bizarre murder that crosses borders, setting up what looks like an unpredictable partnership between the two leads. Adding to the excitement, Blue Road has already been selected for the on-screen section at the 31st Busan International Film Festival, where director Han Jun-hee, along with stars Sun Sukku, Nagayama Ata, and Kim Shin Rock are set to appear.
SPEAKER_00G Entertainment is bringing some K-pop magic to the city of Gansan, launching its cultural pop-up event called Project Your Side, starting today and running through October 5th. This marks the sixth stop for the initiative, which previously visited cities like Wanju, Gyeongsan, Chungju, Wonju, and Jinju, all aimed at closing the cultural gap between Seoul and smaller regions. Fans attending can check out albums and merchandise spanning YG's history, along with actual stage outfits worn by Baby Monster and Treasure, plus hands-on activities like making your own light stick, and even a one-day dance class with professional dancers. After the main pop-up wraps up, Select Content will continue on display from October 8th through the end of the month at a cultural complex in Gunsan's old downtown area. This whole program previously earned recognition with a government award back in 2023, and YG says it plans to keep expanding these kinds of social contribution efforts moving forward.
SPEAKER_01Top and Nana are officially an item, and fans are now looking back at his social media with fresh eyes. The former Big Bang member and the afterschool Alum turned actress reportedly first connected back in January while filming the music video for his solo track One John Michiosio from his album Another Dimension. According to industry reports, the two grew closer and became a couple starting in June, and Topp's Instagram tells the story all on its own. Where his posts used to show a pretty serious, expressionless talk. Since June he's been smiling in photo after photo, whether he's meeting artist David Hockney, greeting fans, or just hanging out backstage. Both of their agencies have now confirmed the romance, saying the two met through their music video collaboration and are currently enjoying a positive relationship together.
SPEAKER_00Singer and actor Yoon Su Bin is gearing up for a brand new release and fans are buzzing with excitement. He dropped a teaser image for his upcoming single titled Glow through his official social media channels, with the full track set to drop on the 6th at 6 in the evening on major music platforms. This comeback arrives 11 months after his November release, and industry watchers are expecting an even deeper emotional tone this time around. Interestingly, Yoon Soo Bin has been busy lighting up the stage in a different way, currently starring as James Dean in the two-person musical James Byron Dean, which captures the final five minutes of the Hollywood icon's life. His intense performance in the show has been drawing praise for capturing that fiery, larger-than-life energy, and theater fans can catch him in the role at the Dihacrolink Arts Center Dream through the 18th.
