SPEAKER_00We're your hosts, bringing you all the hottest updates from the K-pop and K-drama world.
SPEAKER_01Today is August 19th, 2026, and we've got some incredible stories to share with you.
SPEAKER_00Let's dive right in.
SPEAKER_01Girl Group Rosen has made a heartwarming contribution to their local community, donating 50 million one to support flood relief efforts in Geoje City. The donation, made in the name of their fandom, Remine, will help residents recover from the devastating heavy rains that hit the region between August 15th and 17th, causing flooding, landslides, and infrastructure damage. Member Won Yi's hometown connection to GeoJ became widely known after the group went viral with the Goj Yahoo meme, which helped propel their song Love Attack to number one on major music charts. Since being appointed as JOJ City Ambassadors in May, Rosani has actively promoted the region. And this generous donation demonstrates how their special relationship with the city has evolved into meaningful community support during a time of crisis.
SPEAKER_00A new AI artist named Rosen is making waves in the Korean music industry with groundbreaking technology that allows real-time interaction with fans. Unlike traditional virtual idols, Rosen uses a large-scale multimodal model-based AI agent system that can respond to any question within three seconds with witty answers and can communicate fluently in over 47 languages. The AI artist debuted on August 19th with the single I Hope It Reaches Your Eardrums, an easy listening track blending Bossa Nova, New Disco, and City Pop elements, and held a live YouTube streaming event where fans could interact directly without scripted responses. Rather than focusing on performance and appearance like typical virtual idols, Rosen's Even the City project emphasizes musical authenticity and emotional connection with the listeners, positioning the AI as a singer-songwriter who seeks to understand human moments through music.
SPEAKER_01JYP Entertainment's new subsidiary label, Init Entertainment, has launched their first girl group, Our Birthday, featuring seven multinational members from Korea, Japan, and Thailand. The group showcased their debut album at a showcase on August 19th, introducing their unique whip-hop genre that combines the free-spirited vibe of whipped cream with hip-hop performance and each member's distinct personality. Their title track, Squeezy, is a funk-based dance song that encourages listeners to squeeze out stress and complicated emotions like a squishy toy, featuring powerful choreography centered around main dancers Joe Hejean, a former winner of the KBS audition program The Dandara, and Baby. Member Acuraya makes history as JYP's first Thai female group member, following in the footsteps of senior artists Nietzscheon and Bam Bam, while the group aims to be remembered simply as our birthday, rather than with any other descriptors.
SPEAKER_00Girl Group at Heart has returned to the music scene with a remake of the iconic 90s hit 3-4, originally performed by Rula. The comeback, part of their time travel project, was celebrated with a showcase on August 19th that doubled as a press conference for their multiformat drama 3 Plus 4. The group performed the nostalgic track with fresh energy, bringing the beloved song to a new generation of listeners. The multiformat drama is scheduled for release in September 2026, expanding the project beyond just music into visual storytelling.

The track has maintained the number one position on Japan's iTunes Top Songs chart for two consecutive days from August 17th to 18th, while the music video has dominated Lime Music's music video top 100 for two days straight and reached number one on YouTube's music video trending worldwide chart. The Brazilian funk genre song compares an inevitable farewell to summer night fireworks, expressing the desire for a relationship to continue despite knowing its end. The group will celebrate the single's release with a premium live performance at Tokyo Garden Theatre on August 19th.
SPEAKER_01Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise is set to visit South Korea, once again, as part of the global promotional tour for his upcoming film Digger. Warner Brothers announced through social media that the promotional tour will include stops in Seoul, London, Mexico City, Los Angeles, and Tokyo ahead of the film's October release. If confirmed, this would mark Cruz's 13th visit to Korea and his fifth consecutive film promotion in the country, extending his record as the Hollywood actor with the most visits to South Korea. The black comedy film features Cruz as oil tycoon digger Rockwell, who struggles to prevent a global crisis of his own making, with the world premiere scheduled for September 22nd at the Royal Film Performance in the UK and North American release on October 2nd.
SPEAKER_00Spider-Man. Brand new day has shattered box office records by surpassing $2 billion in worldwide revenue just 17 days after its release. The film achieved the second fastest time to reach this milestone after Avengers, Endgame, which took 11 days and became the eighth film in history to cross the $2 billion mark. North American audiences have shown particularly strong enthusiasm, with the film earning $800 million domestically in the fastest time ever recorded at 19 days. Lead actor Tom Holland is expected to earn over $100 million from the film, combining his $20 million base salary with substantial back-end participation, which represents more than double his compensation from previous installments in the franchise.
