SPEAKER_00With your hosts bringing you all the hardest updates from the K-pop and K-drama world.
SPEAKER_01Today is June 30th, 2026, and we've got some incredible stories to share with you.
SPEAKER_00Let's dive right in.
SPEAKER_01BTS continues to dominate the global music scene with their album A Re Rang, achieving extraordinary streaming milestones just two months after release. The group has accumulated over 53 billion streams across all their albums in an eight-week period, with A Re Rung alone generating 38 billion streams worldwide. The title track Swim became the first song released this year to surpass 500 million streams on Spotify, while tracks Body to Body and Hooligan each cross 200 million streams. What's particularly impressive is the geographic diversity of their fanbase, with streaming distributed across Latin America at 27%, Northeast Asia at 17%, North America at 14%, Southeast Asia at 13%, and Europe at 12%, proving their truly global appeal.
SPEAKER_00BTS's ongoing A Ray Wrong World Tour is making history as it approaches an unprecedented 1 trillion won in revenue, becoming the first Asian act to reach this milestone. Industry reports indicate the tour has already generated $204 million from just 24 shows through May, averaging an impressive $8.5 million per concert. With 88 total shows scheduled through early next year and 64 performances remaining, conservative estimates project total earnings of at least $748 million, with some analysts predicting the tour could easily surpass $800 million. The second half of the tour features massive stadium venues including London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Munich's Allianz Arena, which are expected to drive even higher per show revenues and cement BTS's position as a global entertainment powerhouse.
SPEAKER_01Singer Kim Ho jung was released on parole from Soman Correctional Facility on the morning of June 30th, approximately five months ahead of his original November release date. The singer, who was serving a two and a half year sentence for a 2024 drunk driving incident in Apkajong, where he fled the scene and instructed his manager to falsely turn himself in, was greeted by enthusiastic fans holding purple banners with messages like, We waited for you, let's be happy now, and Son, you worked hard, we love you. While his devoted fan base celebrated his return and recently helped him achieve 5 billion cumulative streams on Melon, earning him a spot in the platform's gold club, public reaction has been notably cold with many criticizing the celebratory atmosphere. Kim Ho jung released a handwritten letter to fans expressing that, rather than feeling freedom, he feels increased responsibility and remorse, pledging to serve out his remaining sentence period with accountability while planning to undergo ankle surgery that was delayed during his incarceration.
SPEAKER_00AOMG has launched its first ever girl crew, Keybits, marking a significant moment for the hip-hop label traditionally known for male artists. The five-member group held their debut showcase on June 30th at Yes24 Wonder Rock Hall, introducing their debut EPOXY underscore gen, which symbolizes oxygen and generation, representing their mission to create a new flow in the music industry. The album features five hip hop based tracks, including title song Ox Why, pre-release single Key Beats, and Suck It Up, with notable contributions from AOMG artists including Lee Bag on the title track and Punch Nello featuring on Sub underscore Zero. The group includes three members from Manette's survival show I Land 2, Sunjuan, Yui, and Amjiwon, who emphasize their growth as all-rounders and their determination to become iconic figures in the industry, with member Yesul expressing hope that key bits like becomes a recognizable term in Korean pop culture.
SPEAKER_01The 52-year-old singer, who has over 20 years of teaching experience, personally proposed opening a music course at the school after learning that the institution, which focuses on vocational training for massage therapist certification, struggles to include arts and culture classes in its regular curriculum. Despite the demanding four-hour round trip commute, from her home in Pyongtek to Seoul, BMK travels weekly to teach students in what is essentially a volunteer capacity as a lecturer rather than a regular faculty member. She expressed her hope that music can provide emotional comfort and help students dream of various possibilities, advocating for arts education to be formally included in the regular curriculum of national special education schools.
SPEAKER_00Tomorrow. By Together member Yon Jun has given fans an exciting preview of his upcoming second mini album, No Labels Part 2, by releasing a highlight clip of the title track Ice Cream. The 20-second video showcases the song's vintage drums and addictive bass guitar riff in a funk rock style, while featuring choreography that Yonjoon personally helped create. The performance includes creative movements that visualize ice cream, melting, and playful gestures matching the lyrics Brainfreeze Full of Headaches, demonstrating his artistic input in the album's overall concept. The track uses ice cream as a metaphor for romantic relationships, and the full album is set to drop on July 10th at 1 p.m., marking another solo venture for the multi-talented idol.
SPEAKER_01Tomorrow Buy Together announced their return to the Japanese music scene with their fifth Japanese single, Setsuna Hanabi, scheduled for release on August 19th, marking their first Japanese comeback in approximately 10 months. The new single will include four tracks, three original new songs, plus an alternate version of the title track, with a premium live event planned in Tokyo on the release date. The group has maintained strong momentum in Japan with their third Japanese full album, Starkissed, achieving double platinum certification for 500,000 copies sold, and their recent releases consistently topping the Oricon charts. Their eighth mini album, The Seventh Year, When the Wind Stopped in the Thorns, recently claimed number one on Oricon's weekly combined album ranking, tying the record for most number one albums by any artist, Japanese or international, with a total of 14 chart toppers on the platform.
SPEAKER_00BigHip Music issued an apology after member Cortes caused a flight delay on a Paris to Inchon route on June 26th, expressing sincere regret to passengers who experienced inconvenience on the same flight. The delay was attributed to traffic congestion caused by an accident while Cortes was traveling to the airport after completing Paris Fashion Week schedules leading to late boarding. However, the agency firmly denied other circulating rumors, clarifying that allegations about the group changing clothes on the jet bridge during a previous Japan flight last year were completely false. And claims about habitual late boarding were also inaccurate, noting they completed boarding before the deadline during their May departure from Japan. The group is preparing to launch their first world tour with opening shows scheduled for July 18th and 19th at Inspire Arena in Incheon.
