The ENA drama Scarecrow concluded with an 8.1% viewership rating, making it the second highest rated drama in the channel's history after extraordinary attorney Wu. Director Park Jun Woo and writer Li Ji hyun revealed in their final interview that the series faced numerous rejections from other channels for being too heavy and depressing, as it tackled the Li Chen Ji serial murder case from the 1980s and 90s. Rather than focusing on the criminal, the drama highlighted the double victimization suffered by innocent people through police misconduct, including wrongful imprisonment and evidence concealment. The production team deliberately chose a realistic ending over a satisfying fantasy conclusion, emphasizing that in reality, no perpetrators received proper punishment, though they included a dream sequence as a form of mourning for the victims. Until then, stay tuned to all things Korean Entertainment, and we'll catch you tomorrow.
