SPEAKER_01We're your hosts bringing you all the hottest updates from the K-pop and K-drama world.
SPEAKER_00Today is May 29th, 2026, and we've got some incredible stories to share with you.
SPEAKER_01Let's dive right in.
SPEAKER_00K-pop Star Csai has issued a personal apology after confusion erupted over his soaking wet show Summer Swag 2026 tour schedule. The singer announced performances across nine cities, including Wizongbu, Daegu, Incheon, Seoul Grand Park, Wanzhou, Suon, Guangzhou, Busan, and Daeong, with 14 total shows starting June 27. However, the Guangzhou World Cup Stadium denied permission for the concert, citing scheduling conflicts with Guangzhou FC matches and concerns about turf damage. Sai explained that a local promoter had falsely confirmed venue approval before he announced the dates, and he's now working quickly to secure an alternative Guangju location while promising more careful verification of venue contracts moving forward.
SPEAKER_01The 35th Soul Music Awards wrapped up its fan voting period on May 28th at 11.59 pm, revealing intensely competitive results across multiple categories. Trot singer Li Chan Won dominated three categories, taking first place in the Popularity Award with over 200,000 votes, the Trot Award with nearly 98,000 votes, and leading the main Bonsang category with over 268,000 votes. The most dramatic race unfolded in the K-pop World Choice Solo category, where Tomorrow Buy Together's Yonjun edged out EXO's Bekyun by just 8,000 votes out of over 6 million total votes cast, a margin of only 0.13%. BTS secured the Halyu Special Award, Super Junior won the Group World Choice category, EXO's First Snow claimed the Golden Revival Award, and Do won the New Icon Award, with final winners to be announced at the ceremony on June 20th at Inchon Inspire Arena.
SPEAKER_0017th Joshua has contributed a new song titled One More Dance to the soundtrack of Anderson Park's film K-Pops, which premiered on Netflix. The track features Joshua alongside Corbin Besson from the boy band Why Don't We and was released on Friday, one day before the film's streaming debut. The movie, written, directed, and starring the nine-time Grammy Award-winning artist Anderson Pack, also includes a cameo appearance by 17 member Vernon sharing scenes with Pack and his son. The film originally premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival before its theatrical release in the United States this past February, and now marks another milestone in 17's growing international collaborations.
SPEAKER_01The revamped music show The Show is making its comeback on June 2nd, with special MC's psychers Minjay and Flair Yu's Choi Ripwoo leading the first episode. The SBS Life Music Program, which originally launched in 2012 as a launching pad for K-pop newcomers, ended last November when SBS MediaNet withdrew from entertainment business operations. Global entertainment tech company Big K acquired the show's media intellectual property rights, bringing the program back after a six-month hiatus, with significant changes including a new chart system that directly reflects global fan engagement, simultaneous worldwide broadcasting, and a connected variety show called FanPop Tea that brings fans and artists closer together.
SPEAKER_00The song's recent resurgence is a testament to Itzy's enduring talent and the deep trust between the group and their fans. Now, back to more news.
SPEAKER_01NBC's investigative program, PD Notebook, has released a preview for its upcoming June 2nd episode titled MC Mong and the Chairman's K-pop business secrets, featuring a bombshell interview with 100 label chairmen, Char Gar Wan. In the teaser, Chairman Cha makes the striking statement If I open my mouth, the entire entertainment industry could be turned upside down, heightening anticipation for revelations about the company's operations. The preview includes interviews with industry insiders discussing rumors that Chairman Cha gave MC Mong hundreds of millions of won, as well as addressing artist payment disputes at 100 label. MC Mmong has previously denied all allegations through three TikTok live broadcasts, claiming the program's sources lack credibility and insisting that company account records would clear up any misunderstandings about fund usage.
SPEAKER_00Vocalist Park Jeung appeared as a guest on the web music variety show, Monthly Dom, Episode 2, which premiered on May 28th, delivering powerful live performances alongside host Huin, also known as Park Hei One. The two artists discovered surprising commonalities including their ballad singer backgrounds, audition program origins, and participation in NBC's Hangout With You project groups, WSG Wannabe and MSG Wannabe. Park Je Jung performed tracks from his first full album Alone, including Watching My Broken Self and the Sweet Confession song One Step, while the highlight came when the duo created what fans are calling the Win Times Jezung Fantasy Collaboration, singing each other's new songs, including Huen's protagonist practice and Park's Just Like This Now. The show's format eliminates artificial settings to focus purely on the artist's vocal abilities, with Park praising Huin as one of the best vocalists in her twenties.
SPEAKER_01NCT member Doe Jung has donated 100 million, one to the Career Life Respect and Hope Foundation, to support suicide prevention and mental health initiatives for military personnel and bereaved children. The contribution will specifically fund mental health recovery programs for high-risk soldiers and youth who have lost family members to suicide, with a foundation planning to coordinate with relevant agencies to develop practical support measures. Do Jung, who frequently tells fans that tomorrow will surely be happier than today, expressed his hope that the donation would provide courage and strength to those facing difficult times. The Idol has consistently practiced philanthropy since his debut, previously donating to causes including support for underprivileged children, wildfire recovery efforts, and educational environment improvements, and currently serves as an ambassador for the Thousand Lives Protection Project, a government-led suicide prevention and life respect campaign.
SPEAKER_00Actress Sheen He-Sun has shared her closing thoughts on TVN's Saturday Sunday drama Secret Audit, which concludes on May 31st, reflecting on her role as Ju In A, the audit office director of Haymu Group. Sheen portrayed a character who balanced sharp charisma with unexpected humor, describing Inna as someone who appears to be strong outside, strong inside, but is actually strong outside, soft inside, gradually opening her heart to those around her. The actress found it particularly interesting that viewers resonated with In Ah's unwavering principles and straightforward honesty, frequently commenting that she's right though, despite the character's cold and intimidating demeanor. Sheen expressed gratitude for the pleasant filming atmosphere with good people, saying the experience will remain warmly in her memory, and thanked viewers for their love and support throughout the drama's run.
