Go Group Isna is ramping up excitement for their upcoming comeback with the release of striking new concept photos for their third mini album, Set the Tempo. This marks Isna's return approximately eight months after their second mini album, Not Just Pretty, which demonstrated their range beyond just visual appeal. The new album, set to drop on June 8th at 6 p.m., promises to deliver a power fantasy performance concept as the group continues to prove their limitless spectrum across music, performance, and visuals.

Boy Group, I Did has unveiled dreamy new concept photos for their upcoming single album, Fly, that capture the essence of youthful freedom and adventure. The images feature the seven members in exotic overseas locations, shot with a film-like quality that evokes scenes from a coming-of-age movie, complete with dynamic moments of them jumping, playing in water, and soaking in summer night air. The natural styling and unpolished aesthetic highlight each member's inherent boyish charm, with rough textures and bold colours amplifying the album's youth-focused sensibility. I Did, who debuted through Starship Entertainment's massive global project, debuts plan, and recently won the Hot Trend Award at the third Asia Star Entertainer Awards, will release Fle on May 27th at 6 p.m.

A diverse lineup of Korean artists released new music this week, showcasing the breadth of the industry's talent. Singer Kim Ki-Tai dropped his Oriental series second release, a remake of Lee San-hee's beloved 2005 ballad Fate, transforming it with his signature husky vocals and dramatic emotional delivery that builds from a subdued opening to soaring high notes. The track follows his previous Oriental series release, Vau, and comes after his cover performance garnered nearly 5 million combined YouTube views. Meanwhile, multiple major acts including five-member group Zero Base One, Girl Group Itsey, Big Bang's Tai Yang, NCT's Taeong, and groups Tsykus, Bombing Tiger, Astros Yoon Sanha, and Monster X Unit Shonu X Hai Young One all released new albums between May 18th and 21st, creating an incredibly packed comeback week for K-pop fans.

Lei Seraphim's new title track, Boo Mapala, has achieved remarkable global success, entering Apple Music's today's top 100 global chart at number 46 on its release day, a feat accomplished by only four K-pop groups to date. The song, which samples the iconic hit Macarina, and delivers an uplifting message about overcoming fears and enjoying life together, racked up over 1.3 million Spotify streams in just 24 hours and topped daily charts in Taiwan and Singapore. The track's YouTube performance has been equally impressive, climbing to number two on Japan's trending music chart and reaching number six in both the United States and Korea. Le Serafim currently boasts over 15.5 million monthly Spotify listeners, the highest among fourth generation K-pop girl groups, and will perform at the Wevers Con Festival in Seoul on June 6th and 7th.

Hei Chan opened with groovy tracks from his solo debut album Taste, including Camera Lights, Sierzoe, and Talented, before surprising fans with covers of Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud and Michael Jackson's Love Never Felt So Good that showcased his sweet live vocals. Taeyong brought powerful hip-hop energy with performances of Rock Solid, Misfit, and tracks from his first full album, Wild, including the debut stage of new songs Run and Hypnotic. The duo also thrilled the audience with a special unit performance of Pedo, responding to enthusiastic encore requests by performing the track a second time to close out their memorable festival appearance.

Boy Group Nexi opened up about the emotional moment they achieved their first music show win on NBCM's Show Champion on May 6th, 716 days after their debut. The members recalled being overwhelmed with tears the instant their name was called, with member Yuki admitting they tried not to expect it, but couldn't help feeling wholly hopeful and tense before the announcement. During the Encore stage, Hui revealed he desperately wanted to deliver perfect live vocals and held back tears on stage, only to break down once he stepped off, while you described the moment as feeling like heaven, with members crying beside him and fans crying in front. The first win has given Nex renewed energy and confidence, with the group jokingly setting a new goal to win again so they can properly perform their encore stage without just crying, as they continue to showcase their approachable, down-to-earth charm that sets them apart from typical idol groups.

Director Jongjuri's latest film, Dora, made its world premiere at the 79th Khan's Film Festival as an official selection in the director's Fortnite section, marking her third consecutive Kaz invitation following Dohi Ya and Nex Sohi. The film stars Japanese actress Ando Sakura in her first Korean film role as Nami, a Japanese woman living in a Korean seaside village, alongside Kim Doyon in her first leading film role as the troubled teenager Dora. Jung Kas Ando First, specifically tailoring the Korean dialogue to match what a Japanese person living in Korea for five years might realistically speak, even adjusting scenes to rely more on nonverbal communication when language became a barrier. The film reimagines Freud's famous case study of Dora, transforming the narrative from one of a hysterical patient into a story of self-healing and empowerment, with Ando delivering the film's most powerful line, Don't hold on, let go and you'll float, with a remarkable emotional weight despite the language challenges.

The 79th Cannes Film Festival concluded with Romanian director Christian Mungyu's fjord taking home the prestigious Palmador, his second win after four months, three weeks, and two days in 2007. Director Park Chan Wuk served as jury president this year, personally announcing the top prize for the film about a Romanian-Norwegian couple whose parenting and religious beliefs clash with their isolated village neighbours. While Korean director Na Hong Jin's thriller, Hope, didn't secure major awards despite strong critical reception and a 2.8 out of 4.0 Korea rating. On Screen Daily's Jury Grid, the genre-bending creature feature made an indelible impression as the competition section's most intense entry. The film reportedly achieved record-breaking sales at the Cannes film market and is scheduled to meet Korean audiences in July, proving that even without festival hardware, hope succeeded in leaving its mark on the global stage.
