Director Yoon Sang Ho unveiled his latest evolution of the zombie genre with Swarm, which held its press screening and conference on May 20th in Seoul. Unlike traditional zombie films, Swarm introduces zombies with collective consciousness, who share information and evolve rapidly, creating a fresh horror experience as they engage in fierce battles with humans. The director explained that his initial concern wasn't about zombies at all, but rather about the fear of collective thinking and the powerlessness of individuality in today's society of ultra-fast information exchange, which led him to explore artificial intelligence concepts before translating them into a zombie narrative. The film features an impressive cast, including Jon Ji Hun, Ku Kyo Huan, Xin Heunbin, Ji Chang Wuok, and Kim Shin Rock, with the zombies' movements choreographed by breakdancers, stunt performers, and three contemporary dance teams to create uniquely avant-garde creature performances that set Swarm apart from the directors' previous works like Train to Busan and Peninsula.

Director Na Hongjin's highly anticipated film Hope made waves at the 79th Cannes Film Festival with its world premiere, marking the first time his work has debuted at Cannes rather than screening after domestic release. In exclusive interviews following the premiere, Na revealed that the film's starting point was a sense of foreboding about global violence and unrest, which led him from exploring human nature in the wailing to ultimately setting his sights on outer space for answers. The director emphasized that Hope is still an evolving film, with CGI work continuing even after the canned screening, and he deliberately disrupted the typical mystery-peeling structure with humor and unusual character behaviors to keep audiences off balance.

While Taylor noted how he constantly surprised her throughout the creative process. Both performers faced unique challenges with motion capture technology, having to act without seeing cameras and wearing bodysuits while imagining themselves as creatures with different physical structures and animal-like movements. Alicia hinted at the film's potential for sequels, suggesting that based on her conversations with the director, the story might eventually lead to space, with this film serving as a gateway to that expanded universe.
