SPEAKER_01We're your host bringing you all the hottest updates from the K-pop and K-drama world.
SPEAKER_00Today is March 31st, 2026, and we've got some incredible stories to share with you.
SPEAKER_01Let's dive right in.
SPEAKER_00BTS has achieved another historic milestone on the Billboard charts with their comeback single Swim debuting at number one on the Hot 100. This marks the group's seventh Hot 100 chart topper, making them the fifth group in history to achieve this feat, following the Beatles, the Supremes, the Bee Gees, and the Rolling Stones. The track accumulated 15 million streams, 25 million radio audience impressions, and sold over 154,000 copies in its first week. The achievement sparked an explosive response from the Global Army fandom, generating over 3 million related posts on social media within 24 hours, with members R. M., Jimin, Jay Hope, and John Cook all sharing their gratitude online.
SPEAKER_01An unusual controversy has emerged surrounding BTS's album track, Number 29, which features the sound of the Emil Bell, a national treasure from Korea. Despite meeting the quantitative requirements for Billboard Hot 100 entry, the track failed to chart while 13 other songs from the Arirang album successfully entered the chart. Chart analysis experts suggest the song's lack of lyrics and short runtime may have disqualified it, though they noted that 34 second tracks have charted before, making the exclusion puzzling. Fans have launched a hashtag campaign called Justice for Number 29 to express their disappointment, as the track was created through a special collaboration between the National Museum of Korea and Hybe to promote Korean cultural heritage globally.
SPEAKER_00Hybe is expanding its global footprint with the launch of Hybe India, which announced a major girl group audition project aimed at discovering and developing talent across the Indian subcontinent. The audition is open to females born between 2005 and 2011, with categories spanning vocal, rap, dance, acting, and modeling. Chairman Bang Si Hyuk emphasized that while India has abundant talent and passion, there has been a lack of consistent pathways to the global stage, and HybeIndia aims to fill that gap with a localized training and development system. Major brands including Samsung, H ⁇ M, and Nongshim have partnered with the project, while Snapchat and Book My Show will serve as media and ticketing partners respectively.
SPEAKER_01EXO's Beckyun made a splash on American television with his appearance on NBC's popular talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, where he performed the unreleased track Magic on the Floor. Host Kelly Clarkson introduced him as an artist who successfully completed his first world tour across 28 regions and achieved four consecutive million-seller albums with his solo releases. The performance marked another milestone in Beckyun's global expansion following his successful encore concerts earlier this year, including a show at the prestigious Dolby Live venue in Las Vegas. The unreleased song had previously debuted at his Reverie Dot Encore concert in January, generating significant fan demand for an official release.
SPEAKER_00Netflix series Bloodhound Season 2 is set to premiere on April 3rd, bringing back the dynamic duo of Wu Du Huan and Lee Sang Yi as boxing champions Gun Wu and Wu Jin. At a press conference held in Seoul, the actors revealed significant character evolution, with their fighting styles becoming more sophisticated as they face a global illegal boxing league rather than just loan sharks. The director was attacked at a restaurant in Guri City on October 20th of last year following an altercation with customers at another table and delays in hospital transport meant he arrived approximately one hour after the incident. Police have sent two men in their twenties to prosecutors on charges of assault, resulting in death, though arrest warrants were previously denied by the court. The victim's family has criticized the investigation for initial inadequacies, including incorrectly identifying only one assailant at first and the loss of critical time during emergency transport.
SPEAKER_01Red Velvet's Irene is celebrating a successful solo debut with her first full-length album, Biggest Fan, which reached number four on the iTunes Worldwide Album Chart and topped charts in 18 countries and regions. The album also achieved gold album certification on China's QQ Music platform with sales exceeding 250,000 yu, while claiming number one positions on both the Korean music video chart and Tencent Music's K-pop chart. The 10-track album showcases Irene's ability to express diverse emotions encountered in daily life with delicate sensitivity. She will kick off her first solo concert Asian tour in May at Jiangchung Gymnasium in Seoul.
SPEAKER_00Kim Jun Su, also known as XIA, is preparing to return to music after a decade with his fifth full-length album, Gravity, scheduled for release in June. The album title refers to Gravitational Pull, symbolizing hearts that are drawn to each other like gravity and always return to one another despite being shaken. A teaser poster emphasizes light condensing in darkness, reflecting the album's themes of unwavering connection. Kim Jun Su recently concluded the musical Beetlejuice on March 22nd and is simultaneously preparing for his next production, Death Note, while finalizing work on the album, which will include the pre-release track How is Your Breakup that he performed at his XIA 2025 concert, Chapter 2, Fiesta.
SPEAKER_01N hypen is venturing into new territory as mystery storytellers with their upcoming video podcast series, The Blood Diary. On Spotify's video podcast channel, Stan A. The programme features the members transforming into vampires who share mysterious stories while viewers try to distinguish truth from fiction in a medieval-inspired dark setting. The first two episodes, premiering April 3rd at 8 p.m., will feature members Yungwon, Jay, Jake, and Sunu, with different unit combinations appearing in subsequent episodes released bi-weekly on Fridays. Hyber Media Studio emphasized that the content combines storytelling from a vampire's perspective with interactive elements designed to appeal not only to K-pop fans, but also to audiences who enjoy mystery and deduction content.
SPEAKER_00The title track, It's Me, boldly declares, Your favorite is me after a first date, with lyrics co-written by singer-songwriter Yura and the Deep, who previously collaborated on the group's hit Not Cute Anymore. Member Iroha participated in songwriting for the first time on Popaw, a heartfelt track about beloved pets that also features contributions from Hype Chairman Bang Si Hyuk. Other tracks explore intimate moments of sharing true feelings in GRWM Get Ready With Me. The struggles of lazy perfectionism facing today's youth in the title track Mami Hlapinatapai and a message to one's younger self in Love Older You with the motion poster designed to resemble a DVD screensaver that changes colors upon impact.
SPEAKER_01That wraps up today's episode of K Buzz.
